Shortly after midnight on Sunday, March 6, 2011, a female pedestrian was hit by a pickup truck in Atlanta. The accident happened outside of The Ivy Restaurant at 3717 Roswell Road. An off duty Atlanta police officer was working security at the restaurant and witnessed the crash. The pedestrian was hurt and was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital. The extent of her injuries has not been released to the media.
According to reports of the accident, the woman was jaywalking in front of the restaurant when she was hit by a pickup truck. The truck left the scene of the accident. Police searched for the truck and its driver and later found the vehicle in a parking lot near the restaurant. The truck had significant front end damage. The driver was allegedly under the influence of alcohol.
Police arrested the driver for driving under the influence and other violations. The pedestrian who was hit was also ticketed for failure to use a cross walk. The identities of the driver and the pedestrian have not yet been released.
